2015 -Black Horse Brewery January

First run of the year, normally not very well attended due to recovery of the Festive season, right ?
Wrong! Not MX5er's ! This run burst straight into the New Year ,with 38 Members ,19 cars descending on the sleepy little town of Magaliesberg. 6 new members and 2 returning members Janette and Steve welcome back, really very good to see the enthusiasm in this club.
Such a lovely sight to see of a long string of MX5's riding in convoy.
Destination "Black Horse Brewery" our pit stop, where we sampled and pinted some this very popular Craft Brewers beers! The most refreshing beer is always straight from the Tap at the brewery For the TT's they also brew an excellent Ginger Beer and a lemon concoction, very refreshing.
Then we set off to a restaurant located close to Magaliesberg central for lunch.
Must admit the short 6 km run was clouded in confusion, with people going in all sorts of directions, and some having their own racing challenge Jos and Gary have no idea where you guys were going, and others totally lost, yours truly being one of them.
However ,we all arrived at the same destination and settled into lunch.
The restaurant, pretty new in the business had difficulty in coping with a larger crowd and there huge delays in getting food to the tables. This probably ruined a bit of the run enthusiasm, but nevertheless we managed, and I think everything turned out OK. Thanks Herman, Eben and Carin for assisting the venue and making the day complete. You guys rock and really help in making this club one of the best car clubs to belong to.

Carving of the "Black Horse" at the Brewery

.Notice the telly in the background showing Proteas (in Pink) versus the Windies, where Proteas scored a record score, yet we were none the wiser, must have been the draughts!

When in doubt "Wave"

Pic taken in rear view mirror. Like the inventor of the rear view mirror, he never looked back! The earliest mention of it was Roy Harmouns "Marmon Racecar" at Indy 500 in 1911. However many female drivers in the 1900`s were known to have used their compactum mirrors to look behind them to see if they were being followed by jealous suitors, perhaps they should be credited with its discovery.

25th anniversary MX5 edition- December

Mazda celebrated the anniversary of the MX5, the highest selling roadster of all time, and still growing!
The launch of the 25th Special Edition, of which there were 1000 released world wide!
CMH Mazda in Ferndale had Number 906 on the show-room floor and extended an invite to view this very special edition of the MX5.
The paint work a really contrasting two colour job, the main colour a unique red, almost Candy Apple Red, but not quite, and roof and trimmings,a charcoal tone, really very good. Subtle signage above the front wheel arch and also embossed into the cream coloured seats showing 906, a nice touch. The detail trim around the fog lights, also a precursor for the 2015 model, really neat!
Attached pic`s , Enjoy!!

Arts and Food on Main- December

The last run of the year, unofficial, but fantastic nevertheless.Difficult to believe that this once direlect part of old Jo`burg, can house something as good as this! They have a craft brewery " Smack Republic " serving a few different beers on tap, and their dark stout will certainly compare favorably, to that well known Irish Dark Beer.
We rambled through the food hall which had a wide array of street foods, ranging from burgers to paella, from flat-bread to pizza and many more. A real culinary delight ! The vibe there is absolutely vibrant, really representing a cross pollination of cultures of our beautiful rainbow nation.
Arts on main have numerous displays ranging from classic to totally abstract, and a photographers dream venue. After meals were eaten and drinks consumed, we departed at leisure, much buoyed for the forthcoming festive season.

Year End :Lunch at Voortrekker Monument

Voortrekker Monument Restaurant was the venue for our year end function, and what a great venue it was. This run, as always, is well attended and very good to see those who attend occasionally as well as the regulars.
The restaurant, well appointed and excellent service could only head for a great afternoon for all. The buffet style menu was absolutely fantastic and variety of note. One could return as often as you liked, but I am sure one run through this menu was more than adequate. I must admit I did return for a second dessert, really tempting!
A great end to yet another great year with the MX5er's and looking forward to a fantastic 2015.

An unofficial run will be held for December 14th at Food/Arts on Main.
