De Vette Mossel - 1st Run of 2014

De Vette Mossel

Weskus in Harties!  What an unusual outing. Met at Oasis BP off N3, and proceeded in convoy to Harties where we stopped for drinks at Squires. Then off to the Jasmyn country market at the Windmill in Harties. We had to arrive at De Vette Mossel at 12:00 sharp, as they have a set time to get through a very large menu. The restaurant is in a massive lapa and the entire floor covered in beach sand with dunes as well. The 6 courses are served from braai`s and potjies. The first course was mussels in half shells. So for those who have not been there before, they do not supply cutlery or crockery. So we used paper plates and the shells for cutlery, quite a bit of fun. We have been to the one in Groot Brak, and this one is on par.  Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and experience the “West Coast” in our our back yard.  A different outing,  but a fun one at that –if you have not been there - you have to try it!  Thanks to Carin for arranging an outstanding run!
